Hours

Monday to Thursday 7.30am to 4.30pm. Friday 7.30am to 3.30pm. Some weekend work and flexibility in hours worked during the week will be expected during the growing season of April to September as required by the role is included as part of the salary.

Salary

£32000 to £35,000 OTE. The company also contributes 5% to employee pensions.

Purpose

A full-time role to take responsibility for quality control for wildflower growing and implementing ongoing practical tasks (irrigation, patching, fencing, mowing, oversowing) to maintain quality standards required.

The role will also involve working with others to deliver practical tasks to deliver quality expectations as well as supporting other team activities as required by the Turf Manager.

Relationships within Organisation

Responsible to the Turf Manager for quality delivery and works with other team leaders to deliver the quality objectives.

Responsibilities

Wildflower Turf Quality Control

To take responsibility for the regular auditing of the turf beds with existing management tools and communicate quality standards being met on an ongoing basis to all stakeholders (Turf Manager, Team Leaders and Directors).

To demonstrate practical skills involved in maintenance tasks including patching, spraying, irrigation, oversowing and tidiness of the site.

To work with the Turf Manager to initiate improvements in working practices to improve quality standards.

To create detailed reports on turf bed management that can be used to promote continuous improvement.

To deliver look at satellite sites and contribute to the standardisation of quality standards across all sites.

To effectively communicate via existing management tools and new communication methods to ensure quality measurements are easily accessible by all staff on site. 

Objectives (SMART)

Deliver turf quality standards as agreed with the Turf Manager and Directors.

Deliver timely and effective practical maintenance tasks (patching, fence repair, irrigation, spraying, oversowing) as required by quality standards.

Work with other team leaders and teams as required by the Turf Manager.

Competencies

Horticultural knowledge and experience essential.

Irrigation knowledge would be extremely advantageous.

Organised and process led.

Diligent with an insistence on quality.

Team leading skills.

Effective communication and reporting skills.

Outcome driven.

Flexible attitude to working hours during the growing season.

Experience

Experience in developing effective processes to improve performance, quality and efficiency in a Horticultural environment.

Irrigation experience would be considered strongly advantageous.

Practical horticultural experience and skills to maintain turf beds to the required stand.

Experience in organising and presenting information to other staff, Team Leaders and Directors/Senior Managers.

Experience of a creating and managing a continuous improvement environment.
