QUALIFIED EXPERIENCED GARDENER (LONDON)

Work independently and within a team to maintain to the highest standard all exterior planted areas at our customer sites for the London area, which include a variety of prestigious business clients and hotels. Carry out various additional tasks relating to additional projects such as exterior installations, short term hire planting schemes, and Christmas tree installation and removal assist with the organisation of schedules and oversee operations as supervisor.

Our client seeks a team player with a keen eye for detail, a neat and tidy appearance and good plant knowledge/experience. A spraying certificate would be beneficial. A full driving licence is essential. Company vehicle is provided in due course.

Reporting to: London Exterior Supervisor
Remuneration: Depending on experience. £23,000 - £25,500
Workplace pension scheme.
Working Hours: 40 hours per week Approx. 6:00am to 3:30pm, Mon-Fri Flexibility sometimes required for early starts/late finishes, dependent on job.
Overtime rates payable after 40 hour week 6 month probationary period
Holiday (pro rata): 28 days per annum (including bank holidays)
 

Main Tasks:

  • Garden maintenance, planting, and window boxes
  • Plant displays and prestigious exterior schemes
  • Planting of shrubs, trees, and seasonal plants; on a small scale or as a large planting scheme
  • Installation of short-term hires for events
  • Grass cutting, strimming, hedge trimming, shrub pruning and maintenance
  • Leaf and debris/litter collection
  • Spraying (if certificate held)
  • Basic machinery and equipment maintenance
  • To complete necessary paperwork to each site visited
  • Carry out regular Van Checks in line with company policy
  • Follow all Our clients Health and Safety procedures at all times
  • Make up and deliver containerised displays, assemble plant displays at a variety of locations
  • Must be able to work under strict time constraints and schedules

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Landscaping/horticultural experience essential
  • Good knowledge of seasonal flowering plants and shrubs
  • Good knowledge of horticultural techniques e.g. pruning Paperwork
  • To complete a timesheet on a daily basis
  • To understand and work from schedules, project worksheets, and working rotas
  • Must be able to complete job sheets and customer reports
  • To file all paperwork using the correct systems Health and Safety
  • To follow company guidelines regarding health and safety policy and good working practices
  • To follow customer/clients health and safety procedures and practices where applicable
  • To develop a good working practice with others

 

Driving:

  • Carry out daily maintenance checks, i.e. oil, tyres, etc. when using vehicle
  • Report defects immediately to Supervisor and Office.

Essential Criteria: - Full driving licence - Excellent attention to detail - Self-motivated, reliable, and thorough - Ability to manage time and prioritise tasks appropriately - Good communicator - friendly and personable when dealing with clients and colleagues.

Landscaping/horticultural experience essential - Flexibility to perform any other duties and objectives as required from time to time in order to contribute effectively to the achievement and development of the business aims and objectives.
