Our client seek an assistant buyer to join their thriving team, you will be working in a busy procurement department sourcing trees, shrubs and plants from the UK and outside of the UK to keep their nursery well stocked at all times.

You will deal with existing suppliers so must be a great communicator and skilled at building long term working relationships, in order to work closely with vendors and keep track of market trends.

You will also investigate and explore new opportunities to procure quality stock, so good internet skills and a quick thinking methodical approach is needed. On occasion you may be sourcing specialist plants on the request of High-End clients.

You will support the head buyer with all procurement-related tasks such as selecting the right product mix, managing purchase orders, monitoring inventory, preparing budgets and providing administrative support.

You will need strong computer and administrative skills. To be successful as an Assistant Buyer, you should be confident, highly organised and an excellent communicator via telephone and email.

An analytical mind and excellent negotiating skills will be needed to rise up through the ranks.

Experience in a similar role is a distinct advantage but training can be given to the right candidate. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a highly successful company and the role will go quickly, so please apply without delay.
