MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

 

To deputise for the Operations Manager/Senior Operations Manager. The candidate will be responsible for a number of operational requirements within his department and to ensure the safe, financially effective, quality and consistent delivery of projects allocated to his department.

 

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

 

People responsibility; To act as a role model for your department, able to demonstrate behaviours consistent with that of an AOM and to behave appropriate to this position. To be well presented, punctual, good mannered with great communication. You will motivate the whole team to achieve maximum productivity and pass on your knowledge and skills, providing onsite training. The AOM will report to the OM & SOM on a daily basis and will deputise for the OM during periods of absence or vacation. 

 

Operational delivery; The AOM will be responsible for general operational responsibilities specific to the allocated department. This will include assisting with prompt exit of site staff in the morning, undertaking pre-contract site assessment and post installs review, scheduling and managing projects. The candidate will be expected to be confident in client facing situations and be capable of resolving operational issues from time to time. 

 

Operational compliance; the AOM will be directly responsible for ensuring all aspects group operational compliance are strictly adhered to for teams within his department. This will include such matters as ensuring van packs are up to date, van checks are completed on a weekly basis and all operational processes agreed at Board are effectively implemented within his department. 

 

Operational Training; the AOM will be responsible for (working closely with the OM/SOM) identification and organisation of all aspects of operational training in relation to his department.

 

South East site responsibility; The AOM will also have shared responsibility for managing the site on a day to day basis and liaising with the yardman. This will include (amongst other things) plant stock listing, site traffic management, management of waste and on-site health and safety compliance.

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

 

  • Experienced operational background, the AOM will have had over c2 years supervisory experience within a similar landscape business or services sector.

 

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

 

  • Effective team leadership skills with demonstrable operational management experience.

 

  • Well presented, punctual, good mannered.

 

  • Good working understanding of office systems including Microsoft applications is essential (Excel particularly)
