Purpose of the Role
To assist and support management and other senior staff in carrying out the companys operations. Central to the role is the responsibility to supervise and instruct staff at their premises and on site to ensure work is carried out efficiently and in a professional manner.

Main Responsibilities and requirements
  • Supervise and run a team independently.
  • Assume responsibility and act accordingly in support of senior staff.
  • Communicate with your managers on all work related issues and events.
  • Represent the company as a team leader and act accordingly.
  • Act as a leader responsible for a team of staff under your supervision and instruction, including new/temp staff and staff from other departments (e.g. when on overtime and event work).
  • Receive instructions from senior staff and communicate these to your team in a clear and respectful manner, ensuring they understand how to carry out their tasks and duties.
  • Prioritise tasks and duties and delegate these to your team accordingly.
  • Ensure staff under your supervision and instruction carry out duties and complete tasks efficiently to a high standard in accordance with client expectations.
  • Be available for weekend and overtime work when required.
  • Ensure your team is always working efficiently and effectively for the full working day.
  • Ensure that staff breaks on your team are of the correct length are taken at suitable times (usually one 30minute break per 8 hour day, including tea and cigarette breaks).
  • Ensure staff do not smoke in company vehicles, on clients sites or directly outside.
  • Ensure tools, equipment, materials, containers and plants are properly taken care of when in use/transit, and put away in the correct place when not in use.
  • Ensure all relevant paperwork is completed and processed appropriately via the correct channels, including but not limited to: timesheets (yours and your team members), job slips, vehicle check sheets, risk assessments, method statements, delivery notes, order forms, accident reports, and any other documentation related related to your teams work activities
  • Check quality prior to completion of your teams work on site, and rectify issues before leaving site.
  • Report back to management immediately any problems or difficulties that you cannot resolve independently, any work that cannot be completed, or any concerns you may have about standards of work, behaviour or other related issues.
  • Receive and check deliveries on site and at Woodside and ensure these are processed correctly.
  • Ensure loading/unloading operations are carried out safely and without damage to plants and containers in transit.
  • Arrange passes and book in staff and vehicles at client sites when necessary.
  • Deal with client complaints in a professional manner and resolve these independently where possible, or promptly contact a senior member of staff for assistance to avoid escalation.
 
Other responsibilities central to the role
  • Ensure the safety of the staff under your supervision and other persons who may be affected by your work.
  • Ensure you and your team understand the safety and emergency procedures at the client sites, and that emergency access is never restricted or blocked due to your work activities
  • Ensure you understand the risk assessments and method statements in place and then communicate these to your team. Get these signed off by all staff before starting work.
  • Immediately raise with a senior member of staff any safety information you don't understand or any safety concerns you have. If necessary, stop your teams work until these issues are resolved.
  • Ensure staff work safely in accordance with training, risk assessments and the companies H&S Policy, and that staff are wearing the correct PPE and uniform at all times.
  • Identify training needs for staff on your team and report these back to management.
  • Report any absences, lateness, sickness or other attendance issues on your team to management.
  • Any other duties as appropriate to the post
 
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
 
Skills and Training
  • Written and verbal communication should be clear and precise
  • Good communication skills and the ability to communicate respectfully with a wide variety of individuals.
  • Good knowledge of the London area and ability to navigate to unfamiliar locations
  • Driving licence essential
  • Strong time management and administrative skills
  • Strong maintenance skills and a broad knowledge of different plants and their requirements
  • Ability to work on own initiative and impart that initiative professionally.
  • Strong organisational ability
